Art and Tech
At Awethentic Gallery, we believe art has the power to engage, inspire and raise awareness for global causes. And when art is fused with technology—whether that be through the likes of augmented and virtual reality or NFTs—it elevates the way we enjoy and purchase art.
Since the birth of the internet in 1989, artists have been harnessing technology to push the envelope on innovation. One of the best known digital artists of our generation is Michael Joseph Winkelmann, professionally known as Beeple, who uses various mediums to make social and political commentary. Other artists band together in collectives such as Studio Drift, to explore the boundaries of technology, art and nature. Our experienced art consultancy team can work directly with you to cultivate personalised art collections that communicate your brand identity and ethos. We specialise in fusing together art and technology through our sister company Awethentic Studio, using immersive technologies like augmented and virtual reality, interactive screens and NFTs to enhance your customers' art appreciation and buying experience.
There has been a recent global spike in the number of non-fungible tokens created—commonly known as NFTs. The ‘one-of-a-kind’ assets provide proof of ownership of digital content, and the technology is offering a revolutionary new way to sell art by allowing independent artists to circumvent the traditional gatekeepers in the art world.
Awethentic Gallery has long been on the forefront when it comes to pairing art and technology, and our expert team is equipped to support and guide you through the NFT creation and selling process. Contact us herefor more information on our services.
Augmented and Virtual Reality
Awethentic Gallery’s augmented (AR) and virtual reality (VR) work allows you to educate your guests in an elevated way using immersive, interactive experiences that engage all senses. Our team has significant experience finding the perfect AR or VR installation for your company that will provide powerful experiences for your guests. Christie’s Spring Auction AR Experience
For Christie’s Hong Kong Spring Auctions 2019, we created two augmented reality experiences, one that was accessible through a web browser and another that was accessible via an app. Guests were able to watch art specialists come to life on their devices to speak about a variety of artworks. Guests were able to trigger the art specialist avatar by simply scanning QR codes that were found on flyers. If you are interested in learning more, please contact us here.
IFC La Mer ‘Blue Heart Ocean Protection’ Exhibition
To celebrate World Oceans Day, we worked with beauty brand La Mer to create an interactive exhibition combining augmented and virtual reality elements, which worked to engage and educate viewers about ocean conservation. The resulting La Mer Blue Heart Ocean Protection Exhibition was displayed in Hong Kong’s International Finance Centre Atrium for five days in July 2019. If you are interested in a similar installation, please contact us here.
Christie's Viewing ‘The Waterfall’ Through A VR Experience
Inspired by ethereal waterfalls in Chinese ink paintings, we created a virtual reality video for auction house Christie’s Hong Kong, which allowed guests to journey through an ink painting to experience the serenity of Chinese landscapes. If you would like to learn more, please contact us here.
Motion-Activated and Interactive Screens
In the time of Covid-19, touchless interfaces are becoming increasingly essential, as they provide visitors with a way to avoid touching physical surfaces and objects. Interactive large screen interfaces where users can scan catalogues, interact with educational information using hand and body gestures are becoming increasingly popular for medium-to-large scale galleries and museums. Art Fair Interior Navigation tool
We are experienced in tailoring mobile technology to enhance the art appreciation and buying experience at art fairs and galleries. Previously, we have worked with clients to create interactive maps of the venue paired with an AI chat bot that also provides location-based calls to action within the gallery.Using bluetooth beacons paired with augmented reality (AR), 3D pop ups as well as AR-triggered product videos, educational videos and animations to provide viewers with a more intuitive experience while browsing artworks. We are also able to create 360 degree visualisations of artworks either in virtual reality or using AR so that guests are able to visualise each artwork at home before purchasing.
