Blush - Greer Smith

“I started this artwork in my studio in Wong Chuk Hang, Hong Kong and worked there creating the first couple of layers, but I finished the piece in New York City,” says Greer Howland Smith. “The first layer consists of a watercolour grid and the second and third layers are acrylic, oil and ink. There are elements of nature hidden within the painting like palm trees, flowers, birds and faces and some organic shapes.”

“Parts of the work resemble sculptures created by Jean Philippe Arthur Dubuffet, a well-known French painter and sculptor—but that was totally unintentional. Often the colours I use within my work propels it forward. The work is full of positive energy and movement.”
