Lviv, Ukraine. March 16, 2022. “Vika, a Ukrainian woman, learns how to handle a weapon and battle tactics at a civilian training centre in Lviv,” says photographer Laurel Chor.
“Over and over, we meet Ukrainians who tell us they want to contribute to the war somehow. There are now organisations running civilian training centres where regular people sign up to learn basic skills in first aid and weaponry. They seem to be mostly young men, but not all: some are women, some are older men, all eager to defend their homeland.”
